Services Provided

  • Laser Hair Removal - Lasers work by emitting a specialized light that (passes) through the skin and is preferentially absorbed by the target organ. In laser hair removal, the laser targets the melanin in the hair follicle, thus damaging the follicle and destroying or weakening the hair. The procedure is relatively painless. Most patients describe the sensation as that of a light rubber-band snap Some patients may choose not to have any type of anaesthesia during their treatments. However, if larger or sensitive areas are to be treated, it would be more comfortable to have a topical anaesthetic applied one hour before treatmentNo special care is needed after the procedure. The treated hair will usually fall out 2 weeks later. Mild redness and swelling may occur immediately after the treatment. These reactions subside within a few minutes/hours or may last up to 1 - 2 days at most. Whilst small blisters or superficial burns have been reported as potential side effects of laser treatment, these are extremely uncommon.

What To Expect On Your Initial Visit For Hair Removal

Preparation

Whether your hair loss is sudden or gradual, a hair loss consultation can help you understand the current condition of your hair and what you can do about it. You will have the opportunity to have your hair loss concerns and questions addressed by a dermatologist, who is an expert in hair loss management.

During the procedure

You will be given a pair of protective eye goggles to wear during the procedure. The dermatologist will then place the laser head to your skinyou will experience repeated bursts of a cold spray interspersed with a light snapping sensation. Depending on the area to be treated, the procedure may take between 10 to 30 minutes.

After the procedure

There may be some redness and mild swelling immediately after the procedure. These will generally settle as your skin is iced down. It is advisable to avoid direct sun exposurefor the few days after laser hair removal. You should apply a sunblock on any exposed, treated areas when outdoors.

FAQ

Imagine a world with no more razors, waxing or painful electrolysis! We are proud to offer the GentleYAG® laser system which is safe, fast and effective in dealing with unwanted hair.

Laser hair removal can be safely used on any part of the body including the face, upper lip, trunk, underarms, arms, bikini area and legs.

Most patients will experience a 70-80% reduction in hair growth. The hairs which remain are often lighter , softer and take longer to grow.

Most patients will need between 4 to 6 sessions to see a visible difference. The intervals between the treatments vary with the rate of hair growth. Most patients have their treatments 6 to 8 weeks apart.

The Gentle Yag can be used even in patients of darker skin tones. However, as the energy settings have to be kept lower for such patients, they may require 2 or 3 sessions more than patients of fairer skin tones to achieve a similar outcome.

It is good medical practice to book a consultation first with the dermatologist before embarking on any procedure. This allows for a proper assessment of your suitability as well as to discuss the expected outcomes and any potential side effects.
